Title: So, So, Lets SEW!!!

Date: Wednesdays: 6-8 PM for 5 weeks
Fall Session: September 11, 18, 25 October 2 & 9th, 2024. Last date for having a party showing items students have made to parents.
Time: 6-8pm pm

Ability Level: Beginner

Description: Basic sewing skills for creating simple projects such as headbands, hats, water bottle bag, pillow, small tote bag, and many more ideas.
Skills: Learn measuring with a ruler; cutting fabric with a template; sewing skills such as winding up the bobbin, threading the machine with thread & other skills such as using the presser foot, back or reverse stitching; sewing basic seams; and pressing open seams. Also, safety tips for using the sewing machine and iron.

First Class Session:
Get to know everyone. Show samples of sewing projects. Complete a information card called “Sewing for ME”. We would like to learn what each individual would like to accomplish. Projects are based upon ability. Also, learn about different types of fabric and batting.

 

Learn parts of the sewing machine and label parts on a diagram. Practice threading your machine and wind the bobbin along with inserting in bobbin case. Discover different types of stitching without thread on paper with different types of lines. Pulling up the bobbin thread and back stitching.

Additional Material Fees: $10 paid to instructor at beginning of first class

Materials Needed: Bring your own machine and manual.  Purchase your own fabric, and thread.  (Some donated materials will be available at the center)

Six machines are available to use at the center, however, bring your own machine to learn how to use it.
